Route 05 / preview path

Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival demo

The Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival demo released on September 17, 2026 and lets you play a short route through the Prologue and Episode 1. It previews puzzle solving, crafting, combat, weapons, upgrades and Genesis abilities rather than opening a separate campaign branch. The two sections form a clear progression: finish the preview, then start the full game with a new campaign state because demo progress does not carry over.

Follow the Prologue into Episode 1 and see where the demo's progress stops.

Prologue — enter the Labyrinth

The Prologue follows Aidan as he enters the Labyrinth after Sunny. Its job is to establish the reason for the pursuit and to introduce the first puzzle-solving beats without asking the player to understand every system at once. Exploration is the dominant rhythm: look at the route, recognise the Genesis Configuration as the object that matters, and learn that a space can carry a threat even when nothing is attacking in the moment.

The Prologue leads into Episode 1 in a fixed order. Finish it before entering the Scarlet Church and treat the transition as the first handoff in the preview; a demo save still does not unlock a full-game chapter.

Episode 1 — the Scarlet Church

Episode 1 moves the preview into the Scarlet Church and asks Aidan to escape while holding the Genesis Configuration. The featured mechanics broaden here: crafting, combat, weapons, upgrades and more complex puzzles appear together. That combination gives the demo its clearest picture of the full game's intended loop. A player can notice how a puzzle solution changes the next route, how a weapon choice affects a threat and how a resource reward makes the next encounter more manageable. It is the point where the preview stops being only an introduction to the Labyrinth and starts testing how you balance movement, tools and risk.

The episode is still a preview, so its value is in the shape of the decisions rather than a promise that every later room repeats the same sequence. Track the location, objective and featured mechanics as you move through it. When the demo ends, progress does not carry over to the full game. The full release begins its own campaign state even if you have completed both demo sections.

What to carry into the full release

The demo is most useful as a vocabulary lesson. Exploration teaches you to read an unfamiliar space; the Genesis Configuration gives that reading a recurring object; the Scarlet Church introduces the way crafting and combat share a resource economy; and the puzzle beats show that progress can come from a changed relationship between objects rather than from a simple key hunt. These are habits worth carrying forward even though the save itself does not move. The preview also shows why a weapon, an upgrade and a Genesis ability are not interchangeable: each solves a different kind of pressure.

After the demo, revisit the looping house, Chatterer chase, wheel puzzle and courtyard arrangement to see how the full game's puzzles build on its preview. If you are deciding where to play, compare PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2. The demo remains a short beginning-to-boundary slice rather than a second campaign.

The progression boundary

The demo ends without carrying progress into the full game. That boundary is part of the preview: completing the Scarlet Church tells you what you have seen, but it does not create a shared inventory, campaign flag or transfer code. Finish the preview, then treat the released campaign as a new save state. Nothing in the demo grants access to a later chapter or changes the starting conditions of the full campaign.

The official Scarlet Church trailer shows the same route visually and loads only when you request it. Its focus is the demo's Scarlet Church sequence, where Aidan escapes with the Genesis Configuration.

Before starting the preview

Approach the demo as a short lesson in the game's vocabulary. The Prologue gives you the reason to enter the Labyrinth and the first chance to observe how the Genesis Configuration relates to a route. Episode 1 then combines the Scarlet Church with crafting, combat, weapons, upgrades and harder puzzle relationships. You do not need a completion plan before starting; you need to notice how exploration changes into a decision about movement, tools and risk.

The two sections have a clear order: begin with the Prologue, carry its understanding of the pursuit into Episode 1 and stop when the Scarlet Church preview ends. A full-game start is a new campaign state, not a shared inventory, unlocked chapter or save transfer. The demo also has its own PC requirement check and uses 50 GB of storage, so a Steam preview still deserves a quick install-space check.
